hoga nord rekords is finally releasing druk 11000! this 7inch is a collaboration between silverbullit, fontan and the bhutanese group aa yang - ensemble. the project took shape during a mythical trip to bhutan where the swedish composer and multi instrumentalist johan ‘the count’ westman who’s living in the country, hooked the altitude sick scandinavian musicians up with aa yang - ensemble. the local monks then blessed the musicians under mystical ceremonial procedures. with protection from the dragon of thunder, druk 11000 has produced some of the most powerful, loving and life embracing music yet to have been released on hoga nord rekords! the songs springs toward the top of gangkhar puensum, bhutans highest mountain, building a mighty storm, noticeable all the way to the scandinavian woodlands!

play – according to the cultural historian johan huizinga – is a free activity carried out within certain fixed boundaries in time and space according to voluntary, but necessarily binding rules. it has no goal outside itself and is accompanied by a feeling of excitement and joy. it creates social alliances that for their part often surround themselves in a secret or set themselves off from the everyday world by means of disguise.
in the ocean is closed the “modern composition super group” (the wire) zeitkratzer and the performance collective she she pop observe each other across the limits of their own categories. they look in fascination at their “exotic“ colleagues. outside eyes and ears are interested in different things, ask the right wrong questions, misunderstand the agreements and breach basic laws.
she she pop and zeitkratzer play a concert: secret, order and ocean. they celebrate music and play per se.

next up on bucharest’s raw tools label is börft co-founder, johan sturesson, also known to be part of the swedish electronic trio, frak. the four-track ep consists in music from the private vaults of the producer, that has been kept secret for almost 20 years. rough and gritty, his analogue approach and stripped down sound define the record. starting with the rave sounding “uncle owl” and then moving to a more darkly atmospheric title track, kord shows his muscles on the flipside with some more techno infused and bass driven dancefloor cuts.
always under the radar, johan has been operating raw electronics since the late 80’s, developing his distinctive sound. as kord, he has released on several swedish labels, including his own imprint. together with jan svensson and björn isgren as frak, they have released music on labels such as kontra musik, lux rec and midlight records.

hnny returns to omena with ta paus , the long awaited return since the grammy award winning debut album sunday , released in 2015. since the first release on studio barnhus back in 2011 johan hnny cederberg has had a prolific output and released his music on several labels such as local talk, let s play house & permanent vacation. in 2013 he set up his own label yummy and puss together with kornel kovacs. add to this several remixes and an extensive touring schedule in the us and europe. never afraid to choose a different route or aim for the delightfully simple but deliciously listenable, ta paus is hnny 2017. artwork by rickard eklund

danish composer the swan and the lake is at it again with his trademark widescreen soundscapes wrapped around eight new tracks of exquisite scandinavian balearica. with the release of his first album -moments- last year on copenhagen’s music for dreams, we were introduced to a unique artistic vision. with one foot in the ambient chill out spectrum and the other in everything from classical avantgarde, idm and jazz, the music of emil svane breum under his alias the swan and the lake is both very accessible yet complex. on his new album -clouds- we see him expand on those same ideas and with seemingly simple means achieve extraordinary strong emotions. opening side a, the jazzy intro of -fresh food- leads us into a sublime piece of hazy ambient groover that could easily be mistaken for a lost 80s production from japan. -clouds over Østerbro- keeps things playfully cool and adds elements of scat singing and xylophones, layered over breum’s shimmering bright chords. while the title suggests we are still on danish soil, this feels like a five minute vacation to a tropical paradise. guitarist johan liepstack makes a guest appearance on -summer in december- which comes off as an understated anthem that could break out into euphoria at any second, but manages to stay in a sombre state all the way through. on the track -plastic pacific ocean remake- we are visited once more by airy vangelis-like vocals which assume the role of a nurturing angel, guiding us to a comforting state of relaxation and healing, as breum lays down an overwhelmingly beautiful synth serenade with chords that hit you right at the core of your most vulnerable state. flip over for the mallorca inspired track -port d andratx- which comes in two versions - part 1 (sun) shines like a perfect escape into that cafe del mar/ hostal la torre sunset while the more deep and melancholic part 2 is aptly named rain. the gentle trickling of -waterfalls- sees breum mimic the eternal cycle of water, creating an organic and ethereal composition that stretches out seemingly without beginning or end. and finally on -heaven’s voice- we see breum in his most epic and emotional mood, as he steers us through a slow explosive force of cinematic sounds. it all ends with a heartfelt spoken word contribution by guest vocalist neonbi.

desiderii marginis long out of print debut album from 1997 “songs over ruins” is given a proper re-issue, carefully remastered by johan levin himself and with new artworks as cd and limited edition lp. a landmark in the genre, with it’s desolate, minimalistic and grief stricken odes to religious and spiritual burdens. a foray through abandoned ruins and a reflection on the passing of time and the impermanence of all things physical. outstanding in quality and production skills, this mesmerizing and foreboding journey is at times tranquil and melodic and also dives into more martial like percussive elements and industrial atmospheres. classics like these definitely need to be discovered still and also rediscovered, and it’s with great pleasure that we make it available once again.

solarism is the result of a common fascination for landscapes and a passion for contemplation. after two decades of an unbreakable friendship, we have finally imagined a way to express what contemplation has offered us and how it connects us to the world, describing those experiences through musical compositions, dj performances and welcoming other artists to release their art. here is how markus described his mind’s landscape composing these pieces of music, and it talks more than any description: have you ever thought that you are two people? do you have memories that are so detached from who you are now that you sometimes believe they are not your own? like something you have read or seen in a movie? you wonder who that was, your very own tyler durden? and here he is with a gift from another time when i was another person, living so fast and unconscious that i eventually almost lost the only thing we really have – my life.

the fifth release on our lehult imprint introduces the unique sounds of yet another talent from our crew. after already appearing on our third release, the 8040 ep is dj assam’s first full length release, that showcases his deep and textured productions. in between slightly skipping grooves, atmospherical chords and thumping basslines, dj assam manages to create a atmosphere that offers just the right tension between seductive warmth and dark melancholy, between intimate proximity and distance, between uplifting groove and thoughtful introspection. it comes in a beautiful full-cover showing the deep forest of lehult, as visual counterpart to the sounds of the ep.

so far the most -punk- release in the borft catalog. this is the meeting between johan sturesson (kord) and petter svensson (nebula). while petter has his background as a punkrocker johan has some years of experience in the electronic vein this meeting result in a ebm/punk/techno ep dirtier than ever. lim ed 300x handstamped + sticker.

nice price deal !!! frak are björn isgren, johan sturesson and jan svensson, a trio of synthesizer lovers from sweden. the band was formed when svensson and isgren’s older sisters were best friends and they introduced their little brothers to each other. inspired by severed heads, daf, human league, devo, skinny puppy, the boys began collecting analog equipment and started studio styrka. while the band were still in their early teens they released the first frak cassette album in 1987 on their own record label börft.

the recognition is a new alias from johan antoni who works in stockholm’s finest synth shop jam syntotek. all the tracks are produced in his home...dope stuff!

nearly two years ago we released mys/kela by a newish stockholm-based producer who had put out a couple tracks on a couple labels studio barnhus and local talk owned by friends from around town. that produce s name was hnny and a lot has happened since then, both to him and to us. hes gone on to crank out more l.t. 12inches as well as some hes dropped on his yummy and puss imprints, weve gone on to unleash a couple dozen more records and see the list of talent we ve hosted at our parties grow to astounding length. somehow, through it all, we managed to stay close with hnny, whos real name is johan cederberg, and even book him for a couple nyc gigs. the friendship that began so humbly and gently in 2013 has blossomed.

ironic? no, it’s dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldn’t really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which she’s been doing since her childhood in the 1980s — singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (”maria magdalena“). if she hadn’t met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sally’s passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice he’d only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. it’s a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.
